Yonder Deep, an undergraduate student organization from UC San Diego, is making waves with their innovative approach to developing an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). Yonder Deep's primary objective is to collect acoustic data of opping bubbles near the terminus of a glacier in Svalbard, Norway, which offers valuable insights into the rate of glacial melting and its impact on global warming. The development of such vehicles can cost millions though - so Yonder Deep had to find a way to make research cheaper.
