Marel, a leading food processing equipment company, needed a new gripper for handling whole salmon sides measuring 40–50 cm. The Danish Technological Institute (DTI) was asked to investigate the feasibility of 3D printing a gripper of this size. Marel used its experience with previous 3D-printed grippers to design a prototype that DTI printed for testing on the production line.
