Titanium is een van de lichte metalen en heeft een lage dichtheid. CP-Ti Grade 1 is ongelegeerd puur titanium met de hoogste corrosieweerstand en zeer hoge ductiliteit, maar lagere sterkte in vergelijking met hogere kwaliteiten of titaniumlegeringen. Zuiver titanium wordt vooral gebruikt waar een hoge corrosieweerstand of vervorming vereist is, vaak in de chemische industrie, ruimtevaart en medische toepassingen.
