17/4PH roestvast staal is een roestvaste, hardbare en martensitische roestvaststaallegering met zeer goede mechanische eigenschappen, hoge slijtvastheid en tegelijkertijd corrosiebestendigheid. 17/4PH roestvrij staal krijgt echter pas zijn eigenschappen na een warmtebehandeling en wordt met name gebruikt in industriële omgevingen.

Titanium is een van de lichte metalen en heeft een lage dichtheid. Tegelijkertijd scoort titanium met een goede corrosie- en temperatuurbestendigheid. De titaniumlegering Ti6Al4V (klasse 5) bestaat eveneens uit 6 massaprocent aluminium en 4 massaprocent vanadium en is verreweg de meest gebruikte titaniumlegering. Vanwege zijn zeer hoge sterkte, goede corrosieweerstand en biocompatibiliteit wordt Ti6Al4V vaak gebruikt in ruimtevaart- en medische toepassingen.

Headmade Materials M2 is een hardbaar snelstaal met een wolfraam-molybdeenmatrix, dat bijzonder goed scoort door zijn hoge taaiheid. Vanwege zijn slijtvastheid en hoge hardheid wordt het voornamelijk gebruikt voor slijpgereedschappen. In vergelijking met andere gereedschapsstaalsoorten scoort M2 ook met een relatief hoge corrosieweerstand.
